Wissenschaft, Expertise und Hilfe

The Russian war of aggression against Ukraine is an attack on peace and democracy in Europe and it also affects us as European University Viadrina. We deeply condemn this attack and we stand in solidarity with our students, partners and friends from and in Ukraine. We also stand with the people in Belarus and the Russian Federation who are speaking out against this war.

Ukraine has been one of our key topics at Viadrina for many years. On this website you will find an overview of events, research on Ukraine, support as well as a compilation of our academic experts.

Research under conditions of war

Prof. Dr Oksana Mikheieva from Ukraine has been working as a guest lecturer at the Viadrina since three years - two semesters were planned. But the escalation of the Russian war of aggression has put her plans on hold. Regardless of this, the sociologist, who had to flee from her home town Donetsk to western Ukraine in 2014, continues to research on internally displaced persons in her home country. The circumstances - academically as well as personally - are difficult, as she says in the interview (article in German).
