viaCampus

...is not only the platform for online applications, online enrolment and applicant management. It is the unified administration portal for studies and can also be used by students of the European University Viadrina to register for exams, print certificates and change contact details.
The viaCampus wiki provides detailed information on how to use it. Currently it's mostly in German but the translation is in process. Until then, please feel free to use a browser translator.

Bachelor & State Examination

These are undergraduate degrees. Undergraduate degree courses are those that lead to a first vocational university degree. These include Bachelor's degree courses, but also degree courses leading to a State examination or Magister. Here you find detailed information you need to enrol for an undergraduate degree course at the European University Viadrina.

Master

The Master's degree is an academic degree awarded to university graduates who have completed further academic training. A distinction is made between consecutive Master's degree courses (building on the Bachelor's degree) and continuing education Master's degree courses. The courses are designed for two to four semesters. The admission requirement is a first vocational university degree. Further admission requirements such as specialist/language skills or professional experience are possible. In addition, the European University also offers other postgraduate courses.

Application:

The applications should be sent directly to the program supervisors. Please refer to the pages of the respective degree programme for the application form. Here you will find the deadline for enrollment.

Enrolment:

In general, you already submit most of the documents to the programme supervisors with the application.

Doctorate

As soon as you have concluded a doctoral agreement and this has been confirmed by the doctoral committee, you can apply for enrolment as a doctoral student within the deadlines.

Information on application and enrolment

  • Please do not submit any original documents!
  • You will be informed about the enrollment status and missing documents in viaCampus.
  • Enrollment form: Please submit only the 1st page (the document itself). Keep the remaining pages and read them carefully!
  • Documents must be submitted in German or English.
  • Certified documents will be returned after enrollment.
  • All submitted language certificates remain with the Department of Student Affairs.

Undergraduate Study Courses

Germans and educational residents:

Regardless of your citizenship, you have a German university entrance qualification or you have the German citizenship and hold a foreign university entrance qualification.

Foreigners with a foreign university entrance qualification:

You are not a German citizen and have a foreign university entrance qualification.

Professionally qualified

Regardless of your citizenship, you have a professional qualification under German law.

Master's degree programmes

Germans and educational residents:

Regardless of your citizenship, you have a German university entrance qualification or you have the German citizenship and hold a foreign university entrance qualification.

Foreigners with a foreign university degree:

You are not a German citizen and have a foreign university degree.

With one of the following university entrance qualifications, Germans and educational residents have the opportunity to enrol in undergraduate degree courses at our university:

  • the general higher education entrance qualification,
  • the subject-specific higher education entrance qualification,
  • the technical college entrance qualification,
  • the subject-specific technical college entrance qualification,
  • professional qualification (see ‘Professionally Qualified Applicants - University Entrance Qualification’)

 

For proving your Master Entrance Qualification you have to submit:

  • a Transcript of Records to assess the relevance of the (upcoming) university degree or
  • your university degree certificate

If no university degree certificate is available yet:
Germans and educational residents submit a confirmation of the Bachelor's achievements - The Bachelor's certificate must be submitted to the Matriculation Office by the end of the first semester.

Foreigners with a foreign university degree please refer to this website.

To enrol in a Master's degree program, we require proof of your Master Entrance Qualification.

You do not yet have your degree, but have completed all the relevant examinations or have not yet received your certificate?

  • a confirmation from your examination office that you have completed all relevant examinations.
Confirmation of Bachelor's achievements

An up-to-date study (period) certificate has to be uploaded if you have ever studied or are currently studying at a German university.

This must state your subject semesters and all previous university semesters.

 

An ex-matriculation certificate has to be uploaded if you have ever studied at a German university outside of Berlin or Brandenburg.

Detailed Information

Proof of insurance status – either statutory insurance or exemption from the statutory insurance obligation – is required for enrollment. To do this, contact a German statutory health insurance company and either have yourself insured (e.g. student) or exempted so that your insurance status can be reported electronically to the European University. The chip card or a paper certificate is not sufficient.

To report the insurance status, the health insurance companies may require the sender number of the European University: H0001747.

No proof of insurance require

  • Students aged 30 and over
  • Continuing education students
  • Doctoral students
  • Students getting enrolled at the college

You can take out voluntary insurance at the regular rate. Electronic proof of health insurance is not required for these students.

Professionally qualified applicants must provide proof of their university entrance qualification in accordance with § 10 para. 2 sentence 1 no. 5-11 BbgHG:

No. 5: Certificate of a professionally qualifying university degree

No. 6: Certificate/proof of having passed the master craftsman's examination in a trade

No. 7: Certificate/proof of further training qualification

No. 8: Certificate of competency for the nautical and technical ship service

No. 9: Certificate of completion of a technical school in public sponsorship

No. 10: Certificate/proof of completion of further training in accordance with state law

No. 11: Certificate of completion of secondary school, certificate of completion of vocational training, proof of at least 2 years of professional experience following the training, curriculum vitae

A sworn translation of certificates and other documents is required into German or English. 

A sworn translation ist not required if the original documents were issued in English or German by the relevant institution, e.g. school and/or university, or as bilingual versions, i.e. in the original language with a translation into English or German.

What is a sworn translation?
A sworn translation, also known as an official translation, is a translation that has been prepared by a court-certified translator, also known as certified or sworn translator.

Who is authorized to issue a sworn translation?
A sworn translator is a person with special authorisation as a sworn or publicly appointed/authorised translator. Such a sworn translator is authorised to officially translate documents, i.e. to produce so-called sworn or court-approved translations.

Sworn translators are only authorised to certify translations they have produced themselves, but no other documents, in particular not the original document on which the translation is based.

What must a sworn translation look like?
An official translation contains the translation of the underlying document, which is affixed with the translation mark, the original signature, and the seal of the translator, as well as a copy of the original document that was translated.

 

Important: You must submit the sworn translation with the translation note, the original signature and the original seal. A copy will not be accepted.

Please note this section in addition if you wish to enrol in a higher semester due to existing achievements!

You must then submit an approved classification confirmation for enrolment.

Who? The procedure applies to all applicant groups.

How You submit an application for recognition of existing external academic achievements (Anerkennung von externen Studien- und Prüfungsleistungen).

Where? The examination board of the desired study course is responsible for the procedure.

When? Submit the application at least six weeks before the end of the applicable enrolment period.

What if
the application is approved: You submit the notification of approval to the Admissions Office, the application for enrolment is finally processed and the recognised achievements are recorded by the Examination Office during the first semester.
The application is not approved: If permitted, you will begin your studies in the first subject semester.
The notification is not received by the deadline: If permitted, you will begin your studies in the first subject semester. Upon receipt, the Matriculation Office will process an upgrade and the Examination Office will record the recognised achievements.

Attention: A different enrolment in the first subject semester is only possible for study courses without admission restrictions and if the study course in question is approved for the first subject semester.

After successful enrolment:

...you will receive an automatic message to the email address you used to register in the viaCampus portal. to the email address you used to register in the viaCampus portal.

...your login password will change. You will receive the password for your new role as a student at the end of the online enrolment in viaCampus. These login details are valid for all university systems.

...you will receive your "Certificate of Matriculation" and such on viaCampus under "My studies > student services" for download.

...your student email address will be activated. Please use this for future communication with us and check your inbox regularly! owa.europa-uni.de).

...you will be informed by our on-site Service Point when your student ID card is ready for collection.
