Details of University Entrance Qualification
As university entrance qualification for a bachelor’s degree programme / State Examination you must have a secondary school certificate that allows you to study in your country of origin. But depending on your country of origin, additional requirements and proofs may be necessary, such as: an APS, a university entrance examination and/or periods of study in your country of origin.
Depending on your qualifications, you can either study all degree programs (general entrance qualification) or only certain programs (subject-specific entrance qualification).
If your previous education qualifies you for the "Studienkolleg" (preparatory college) or the "Feststellungsprüfung" (assessment test), please feel free to learn more about the preparatory programs of our Viadrina College.

Details of Formalities
Please do not submit originals. The copies to be submitted must be officially certified and officially translated.
We also accept copies of the required documents for the application without official certification, but reserve the right to request these later. However, you must always submit a scan or a copy of the original document, i.e. in the original language.
1. Officially certified copy
Officially certified copies of the original document/s must be issued by an authorised person!
If you come from an EU country, an officially certified copy of the documents by a notary, school or university is sufficient. Outside the European Union, copies must be officially certified by a German consular mission or an authorised notary.
2. Sworn translation
A sworn translation into German or English is always required. This means, the translations must be issued by a sworn translator.
Such a translation is not required if the original document is issued by the responsible institution (e.g. school/university) in English or German. This also applies to bilingual versions, i.e. in the original language with a translation into English or German.

Applying for the 1st Academic Semester via uni-assist*
Applications for the 1st academic semester have to be submitted via uni-assist.
- You fill out the online-application at uni-assist.
- You upload all required documents there.
Enrollment for a Higher Semester or with a Preparatory Course (Studienkolleg) at the Viadrina*
The enrollment for a higher semester or with a preparatory course (Studienkolleg) have to be submitted via viaCampus, i.e. directly at Viadrina.
- First, you fill out the online-enrollment in viaCampus.
- At the end, after sending the online enrollment, a PDF file will be generated.
- Page 1 is your request for enrollment. You can either print it out and sign it personally by hand or add a digital signature. You have to submit this signed request together with all the other required documents.
- The information on pages 2 and 3 is for your personal records. These pages do not need to be submitted.
- Please also note the information about the application procedure (step 3).
Important when applying for a higher academic semester:
- For this, you also need approval from the examination board responsible for your degree programme that you can start your studies in a higher semester. The required request for placement in an advanced semester can be found on the web pages of the respective study programme.
- Please submit this application for placement in a higher semester, personally signed by hand, with all the necessary documents together with all other application documents.

School Leaving Certificate and Grade Summary
To prove your university entrance qualification (HZB) for a Bachelor's degree programme or state examination in law, you have to submit your secondary school leaving certificate or proof of successful completion of the preparatory college (Studienkolleg/Feststellungsprüfung). Please always submit the corresponding subject and grade summary as well.
Depending on your country of origin, additional documentation may be required.
Other Educational Qualifications
Please also attach all your other educational documents, e.g., about previous periods of study, other degree certificates, already existing university degrees. Always submit these documents together with the corresponding subject and grade summary and the officially used grading scale.
Your university degree certificate is not yet available?
If you have already obtained a first university degree but do not yet have your final certificate, we need confirmation of your upcoming university graduation. The requirements that such a confirmation must fulfil can be found here.
Please note: This regulation does not apply to secondary school qualifications, but only to university degrees, especially for the first qualifying university degree, i.e. Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
German
For all Bachelor's degree programmes / state examination in law, i.e. those with the teaching language German, you must provide proof of German language proficiency at C1 level. Please find out about recognised tests and the corresponding requirements.
Please note:
- A certificate of your current German language skills (min. B2) must be submitted with your application documents as an officially certified copy.
- A certificate of the required German language skills must be submitted as an officially certified copy or as an original by the time of enrolment at the latest.
English
Please inform yourself about recognised tests and the corresponding requirements for International Business Administration (B.Sc.) and Cultural and Social Studies (B.A.).
In the case of admission to the degree programme, an original certificate of the required English language skills must be submitted at the latest at the time of enrolment.
Please submit a curriculum vitae (CV) in tabular form as well.
To ensure that your personal details are correctly recorded in the system, please submit a simple, uncertified copy of your passport or another valid identification document.
A copy of the page on which your name, date/place of birth and signature are clearly recognisable is sufficient.
Proofs of any changes to your name must be submitted as officially certified copies.
Submitting proof of payment of the processing fee for uni-assist is only required for certain payment options.
