ERUA at the Viadrina

Since November 2023, the European University Viadrina has been a member of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA), a network of eight universities stretching from the Canary Islands via France, Italy and Poland to Lithuania, Bulgaria and Greece. The Viadrina is thus being funded as a "European University" and will receive 2.25 million euros out of a total of 12.8 million euros for a period of four years, with which the European Commission is funding the entire ERUA network. The aim of the European Reform University Alliance is to innovatively shape the future of universities in Europe and to rethink teaching and learning as well as research and social commitment from a critical, European and inclusive perspective.

With the European Universities Programme, the European Commission is promoting the networking of universities across Europe. As cross-border university networks, they are intended to strengthen the higher education area by pooling the strengths and diversity of research and teaching at universities in Europe.

ERUA brings together a magnificent group of unique universities across Europe which, through close communication and cooperation, will sharpen their profile, improve their quality and increase their impact on their home societies as on Europe as a whole. Find Project Partners at SOCIN 2026 – Submit by July 10

Looking for international project partners? The Matchmaking Session at SOCIN 2026 gives researchers from all disciplines the chance to connect with international partners, develop joint projects and prepare grant applications. Submissions are open until July 10, 2026 – no ERUA membership required. The 4th edition of the Social Innovation Conference takes place October 21–23, 2026 in Warsaw and is jointly organized by ERUA and SWPS University.

The Roads of Europe: Photographs of a Migration Journey

"The Roads of Europe. Photographs of a Migration Journey" brings together 20 photographs selected from an open call, documenting migration through personal and poetic testimonies. This student-led ERUA project was created by young artists from Paris 8, New Bulgarian University, and the University of the Aegean. On display from May 11 to July 31, 2026 at the Gräfin-Dönhoff-Building, 1st floor, Europaplatz 1, Frankfurt (Oder). Guided tours on June 16 at 1:00 p.m. (English) and 5:00 p.m. (German).

Save the Date: ERUA's 6th Annual Summit in Sofia

The 6th ERUA Annual Summit will take place November 18–20, 2026, hosted by New Bulgarian University in Sofia, Bulgaria – the final summit of the current funding period. Under the theme "Consolidating Achievements, Shaping Continuity," representatives from across the alliance will review achievements, strengthen collaboration, and shape ERUA's future beyond 2027. The programme includes strategic discussions, coordination meetings, and student-led initiatives. More information to follow.

Welcome to Queer Connect – the monthly online networking round for queer students and initiatives! Every first Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m. CEST, hosted by Europa-Universität Viadrina. Share experiences, connect with others, and engage in a safe space – with a short thematic input each session. Bring your questions and ideas!
