ERUA at the Viadrina

Since November 2023, the European University Viadrina has been a member of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA), a network of eight universities stretching from the Canary Islands via France, Italy and Poland to Lithuania, Bulgaria and Greece. The Viadrina is thus being funded as a "European University" and will receive 2.25 million euros out of a total of 12.8 million euros for a period of four years, with which the European Commission is funding the entire ERUA network. The aim of the European Reform University Alliance is to innovatively shape the future of universities in Europe and to rethink teaching and learning as well as research and social commitment from a critical, European and inclusive perspective.

With the European Universities Programme, the European Commission is promoting the networking of universities across Europe. As cross-border university networks, they are intended to strengthen the higher education area by pooling the strengths and diversity of research and teaching at universities in Europe.

ERUA brings together a magnificent group of unique universities across Europe which, through close communication and cooperation, will sharpen their profile, improve their quality and increase their impact on their home societies as on Europe as a whole. Queer Connect – Networking Round for Students & Initiatives

Wednesday, Mar 18, 1 p.m. CET: Join our monthly online networking round for queer students and student initiatives across all ERUA partner universities. Connect with others, share experiences, and learn from one another in a safe space. The event is hosted by European University Viadrina and open to all queer students as well as anyone interested in making queer topics visible and supported at their university. Each session also includes a short thematic input provided by students or initiatives. Bring your initiative, your questions, your experience!

Open Call for Student Submissions – ERUAvision: A Music Contest for Unity

All students are invited to take part in ERUAvision: A Music Contest for Unity, a student-led project funded through the alliance’s Student Bottom-Up Initiative. The contest will bring together students from across the ERUA network to celebrate creativity and collaboration through original music. Submissions must be original composition, no covers are allowed. Please apply by 20 March to benefit from coaching and a professional studio recording. Let your creativity run free!

Call for Applications: re:constitution Fellowships 2026/27

Undertake postdoctoral research through a joint programme of Forum Transregionale Studien (ERUA Associated Partner) and Democracy Reporting International. The programme is open to early-career researchers and practitioners in the field of democracy and the rule of law in Europe. Carry out an independent research project including a research stay at one or two host institutions in Europe from Oct 2026 – Jul 2027, funded with €2,500 per month for full-time participation. Apply by 5 March 2026 (12:00 CET).

Save the Date: ERUA Viadrina Research Week, October 5–9, 2026

Are you an early-career researcher looking to build an international network and advance your career? Join us for the ERUA Viadrina Research Week, hosted on-site at the European University Viadrina! This week-long event is designed to support researchers from all ERUA partner universities in strengthening their international careers through targeted workshops, discussions, and networking opportunities. Participation is free of charge. Please check with your university to see whether Erasmus funding may support your travel and accommodation costs. The final schedule and the registration link will be available in summer 2026.
