ERUA at the Viadrina

Since November 2023, the European University Viadrina has been a member of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA), a network of eight universities stretching from the Canary Islands via France, Italy and Poland to Lithuania, Bulgaria and Greece. The Viadrina is thus being funded as a "European University" and will receive 2.25 million euros out of a total of 12.8 million euros for a period of four years, with which the European Commission is funding the entire ERUA network. The aim of the European Reform University Alliance is to innovatively shape the future of universities in Europe and to rethink teaching and learning as well as research and social commitment from a critical, European and inclusive perspective.

With the European Universities Programme, the European Commission is promoting the networking of universities across Europe. As cross-border university networks, they are intended to strengthen the higher education area by pooling the strengths and diversity of research and teaching at universities in Europe.

Teacher Training Plan – First Semester 2026–2027

ERUA has published the Teacher Training Plan for the first semester of the 2026–2027 academic year. The programme offers eleven online courses for teaching and research staff across the eight partner universities, covering topics such as artificial intelligence, project-based learning, digital teaching, authentic assessment, multilingual education and arts-based pedagogies. Courses are open to eligible full-time and part-time academic staff and PhD candidates. Details on registration will follow in a separate announcement. Course descriptions and schedules are available in the attached programme.

Queer Connect is currently on summer break (July–September) – we're still here for your questions and ideas: marullrich@europa-uni.de. Join our monthly networking round for queer students and initiatives across partner universities – with thematic input, exchange and a safe space. Open to all. Bring your questions and experience.

Register for the SOCIN 2026 Conference

Registration for the SOCIN 2026 Conference is now open. Organised by SWPS University in collaboration with ERUA, the conference focuses on social innovation from a transnational perspective. Keynotes by Frank Moulaert (KU Leuven) and Marion Thain (University of Edinburgh). Registration deadline: 9 September 2026. Important: Travel and accommodation funding is not automatically provided. Any financial support must be requested through your home institution's ERUA coordination office.

Got a Project Idea? ERUA will fund it

ERUA is launching its fourth Bottom-Up Project Call for Students. You can carry out your own project with students from at least two ERUA universities and receive up to 5,000 euros in funding. The project can last up to six months and must start between November 2026 and January 2027. There are plenty of options to choose from: art, exhibitions, sustainability, sport or community initiatives. Find out more at the online information session on September 22, 2026 at 4.00 pm CEST via Zoom. You can submit your project proposals until October 19, 2026.
