ERUA at the Viadrina

Since November 2023, the European University Viadrina has been a member of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA), a network of eight universities stretching from the Canary Islands via France, Italy and Poland to Lithuania, Bulgaria and Greece. The Viadrina is thus being funded as a "European University" and will receive 2.25 million euros out of a total of 12.8 million euros for a period of four years, with which the European Commission is funding the entire ERUA network. The aim of the European Reform University Alliance is to innovatively shape the future of universities in Europe and to rethink teaching and learning as well as research and social commitment from a critical, European and inclusive perspective.

With the European Universities Programme, the European Commission is promoting the networking of universities across Europe. As cross-border university networks, they are intended to strengthen the higher education area by pooling the strengths and diversity of research and teaching at universities in Europe.

Call for Applications: Summer School on Digital Government by UAegean

How can AI and digital innovation reshape governance and democracy? Find out at OpenGov2026 — the ERUA Summer School on Digital Government, hosted by the University of the Aegean on the island of Samos from July 6–10, 2026. The programme brings together PhD students, researchers, and professionals to explore data-driven governance, e-democracy, and public sector innovation through workshops and expert sessions. ERUA students are eligible for a fee waiver. Applications are open until June 12, 2026.

Viadrina at the 3rd International Researchers' Days in Paris

On June 15 and 16, 2026, Université Paris 8 and the European university alliance ERUA will host the 3rd International Researchers' Days, held both onsite in Paris and online. Under the theme "Critical Edge(s): Rethinking the Center," PhD candidates and early-career researchers will discuss borders and peripheries as spaces for knowledge production. The program features various panels, as well as a networking event focused on funding opportunities. Viadrina will be represented with several contributions.

Funding in Focus: Viadrina at the ERUA Annual Networking Fair

On 16 June 2026, 13:30–15:00 CEST, ERUA invites you to the Annual Networking Fair for Researchers – held in Paris and online. The focus is on funding opportunities for early-career researchers. Two Viadrina experts will present EU and German funding programmes. The Franco-German University, as an associated partner, will also contribute to the programme. The Networking Fair is part of the 3rd International Researchers' Day. Please register in advance.

The Roads of Europe: Photographs of a Migration Journey

"The Roads of Europe. Photographs of a Migration Journey" brings together 20 photographs selected from an open call, documenting migration through personal and poetic testimonies. This student-led ERUA project was created by young artists from Paris 8, New Bulgarian University, and the University of the Aegean. On display from May 11 to July 31, 2026 at the Gräfin-Dönhoff-Building, 1st floor, Europaplatz 1, Frankfurt (Oder). Guided tours on June 16 at 1:00 p.m. (English) and 5:00 p.m. (German).
