Degree certificate not yet available?

Hint

The following information applies to foreign applicants with foreign certificates whose first professionally qualifying university degree (bachelor's degree or equivalent) is not yet available at the time of application / enrollment application. If this is expected to be obtained shortly, the expected degree can be proven as follows, depending on which case applies.

This proof is particularly important for those applying for a master's programme, as such a degree must be obtained before the start of the programme.

Cases

Case 1

You are still missing individual examination results, but based on your performance to date, it is to be expected that you will obtain your first professionally qualifying university degree (bachelor or equivalent) before starting the master's programme.

Then we need from you, at the time of application, an original official letter from your university in German or English, i.e. with letterhead, seal and signature - no copies, confirming

  • that you are a student at this university,
  • that you will complete your studies in the current semester,
  • that you will receive your academic degree (e.g. bachelor's degree) at the end of the current semester,
  • what degree this is, and
  • what your expected average grade is.

In addition, you must submit an official transcript of records (overview of your achievements) to date.

Case 2

You have completed your studies and have already obtained your first professionally qualifying university degree (bachelor's degree or equivalent), but your certificate has not yet been issued.

Then we need from you, at the time of application, an original official letter from your university in German or English, i.e. with letterhead, seal and signature - no copies, confirming

  • that you have obtained the academic degree,
  • what degree it is,
  • when you have obtained it, and
  • what final grade you have achieved.

For the time of processing your application / enrollment application, these letters replace your university degree certificate and the final transcript of records (overview of your subjects and grades).

However, at the latest, before your start of studies here at the European University Viadrina, you must have proof of your university degree, i.e. your degree certificate and the final transcript of records. Both documents have to be submitted as officially certified copy or in original, together with a sworn translation into German or English.
