"Get involved!" - A campaign for anti-discrimination at the Viadrina

Viadrina is a place where people with different cultural backgrounds, values, and ways of working come together to conduct research, work, and study. Respectful and fair interaction is the foundation of our daily cooperation and our goal in maintaining a consistently positive working environment. As an educational institution, Viadrina also bears a special responsibility and serves as a role model in this regard.

Viadrina encourages everyone to speak up about discriminatory behavior and to seek counseling. This applies especially to those who are unsure whether their case is relevant or can be clearly classified as discrimination – they are especially encouraged to reach out for a conversation.

Bettina Gebhardt has been Viadrina's Anti-Discrimination Officer since May 2025. With the aim of creating and strengthening non-discriminatory structures, the officer will be responsible for promoting a democratic culture at the university that recognizes, values and promotes diversity and raises awareness in the areas of equal treatment and discrimination. Structurally, the position is located in the Equal Opportunities Division. The function has been mandatory since the amendment of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act.
