Counselling and Discrimination: Training for Colleagues Working in Advisory Roles

At Viadrina, there are numerous advisory services available for prospective students, current students, and staff. At these professional contact points, you can obtain important information and support for your studies, your work context, and beyond – for example, for your own mental health.

It can happen that people seeking advice at these services also report experiences of discrimination, even if they originally sought counselling for another matter.

If you yourself are working in an advisory capacity at Viadrina, the Anti-Discrimination Office invites you to further your training for such situations and, for example, to clarify the following questions: How can discrimination be recognised in counselling contexts? What options for action are available? And what does good referral practice look like?

In addition, on 24 September from 09:00 to 13:00, an online workshop on this topic will be offered for all colleagues engaged in advisory work at Viadrina. For example, there will also be an opportunity to discuss your own counselling cases in a collegial case consultation. Registration is possible until 15 September at: antidiskriminierung@europa-uni.de

Furthermore, anyone interested and in need of a conversation is welcome to contact the Anti-Discrimination Officer at any time.
