Erasmus+ KA131 (Europe)

Through the Erasmus+ KA131 programme, you can spend one or two semesters (a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 12 months per cycle of study) at a partner university of Viadrina in an Erasmus+ programme country. These include the 27 EU Member States as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, North Macedonia and Turkey.

If you are awarded an exchange place, you will receive a mobility grant. You will also not have to pay any tuition fees at your host university.

Worldwide (non-EU)

Viadrina has a network of bilateral partnerships worldwide. This enables you to spend one or two semesters studying abroad, even outside Europe or the Erasmus+ programme. In the list of partner universities you will find all the higher education institutions with which Viadrina has concluded bilateral agreements for this purpose – often with the advantage that you are exempt from tuition fees whilst studying there.

Erasmus+ KA171 (partner countries)

Through the Erasmus+ KA171 programme, you can spend one or two semesters (a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 12 months per cycle of study) at selected partner universities in specific partner countries. The following universities are currently available to students at Viadrina:

Kosovo: University of Pristina

If you are awarded an exchange place, you will receive a mobility grant. Furthermore, you will not have to pay any tuition fees at the host university.

International double degrees

Viadrina has so-called dual or multiple agreements with several universities both within and outside Europe. Students at Viadrina therefore have the opportunity to obtain two or three degrees simultaneously.

Erasmus+ Short-term Mobility & BIP (Europe)

Through Erasmus+, students and enrolled PhD candidates can also take part in short-term mobility programmes (minimum 5, maximum 30 days) at partner universities in Erasmus+ programme countries. These mobility programmes include a compulsory virtual phase. Participation in a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) can also be funded through Erasmus+, under the same conditions as a short-term mobility placement.

ERUA

Since November 2023, Viadrina has been part of the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA), a network of eight European universities funded under the ‘European Universities’ programme of the European Commission. Together, the partners are reshaping the future of teaching, research and social engagement in Europe. You can also benefit from this, for example by taking part in ERUA intensive courses, summer and winter schools, and travelling seminars.

Internship abroad

Information on organising and finding an work placement abroad with Erasmus+ or a other scholarship can be obtained from the Viadrina Career Center.

Self-organised stay abroad

Would you like to study abroad independently of Viadrina’s exchange programmes and partnerships? This is possible and can also greatly enrich your studies. Please note the following:

  • Tuition fees: Universities that are not Viadrina partner institutions usually charge tuition fees.
  • Recognition: There is no guarantee that your courses will be recognised. You must therefore clarify this with us before deciding on a university.
  • Funding: The Erasmus+ mobility grant (Europe) and the PROMOS scholarship (worldwide) are awarded by Viadrina only for stays at partner universities. You cannot therefore receive these for a self-organised stay.
  • Support: We can only provide limited support with organising and carrying out your stay abroad.

How to proceed

Please send an email to the Division of International Affairs:

Please include the following in your email:

  • the name of the university you wish to attend, with a link to its website
  • the descriptions of the courses you wish to take there

We will review your details and get back to you to let you know whether your self-organised stay abroad and the courses can be recognised.
