Have you set up or taken over a business, worked at a start-up, or are you self-employed? On Thursday 19 November 2026, from 6.00 pm, we’re inviting alumni who have set up businesses, as well as students interested in starting their own ventures, to the new Viadrina Coworking Space. Look forward to an evening full of fascinating insights, personal stories and a game of Founder Bingo. Share your experiences with other alumni, make new contacts and forge new partnerships. You’ll have the opportunity to pass on your experiences, get to know young founders and perhaps even gain some fresh inspiration yourself. The event is organised by the Viadrina Founders Center and Alumni Relations.

A European sabbatical to break down prejudices, a EuropeCard for climate-friendly mobility, a citizens’ mailbox to replace bureaucratic frustration – these and many other ideas for a better Europe will be the focus of a discussion evening on Tuesday, 20 October, 6.00 pm, in the Logensaal at Viadrina. The guest speaker is Viadrina graduate, European activist and author Katja Sinko, author of the book *The Best Europe Ever: Unheard-of Ideas for a Better Tomorrow*, which she published this year in collaboration with Peter Jelinek. In conversation with Prof. Dr Timm Beichelt, she will present her ideas and invite the audience to treat this interactive book launch as a discussion and a think tank.

At the end of September, an extraordinary German-Polish event took place on the Frankfurt (Oder)–Poznań railway line. Under the motto ‘Rechtswissenschaft (Law) unites Europe’, representatives from Viadrina and AMU in Poznań introduced passengers on the ‘Culture Train’ to German-Polish Legal Studies and the career opportunities it offers. Among those present were alumna and lawyer Anna Dolejsz-Świderska and alumnus Dr Marcin Krzymuski, education and project manager at the Frankfurt-Słubice Cooperation Centre.

27 June 2026 marked Graduation Day at Viadrina: more than 200 graduates from all three Faculties and the European New School of Digital Studies (ENS) received their degrees, including Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates as well as PhD candidates. The President and the Deans offered their congratulations during the ceremonial degree conferrals, whilst also reminding the graduates of their social responsibilities. In their speeches, the graduates highlighted what makes studying at Viadrina so special.

On 6 May 2026, a formal ceremony was held to mark the graduation of students from the Master’s programme in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at the European University Viadrina. Ten graduates from Austria, Germany, India, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, Afghanistan, Ireland, Pakistan and Denmark successfully completed their studies. Family members and friends accompanied the graduates on this special day.

After a break of several years, the Brussels alumni met on 3 March 2026. 14 graduates from four different countries accepted the invitation from Prof Dr Stephan Simon and alumnus Stephan Redlich to the Kafenio in the EU quarter.

Following the motto "Viadrina connects", Alexander Klebe, graduate and freelance photographer, invited Viadrina alumni - especially individual entrepreneurs and creators - to a networking event in his photo studio. On 13 November 2025, his Ocean Studio Berlin became a space for exchange, inspiration and new contacts.

Bachelor's, Master's, Staatsexamen in Law and PhD: On 28 June, the Viadrina celebrated its graduates from all three Faculties and the European New School of Digital Studies. More than 850 international guests, including around 220 graduates, celebrated the presentation of their certificates on campus with live music from the German-Polish band LUNYA.

More than 60 graduates of the Master's programme in European Studies met at the town hall of Berlin-Schöneberg. The guests had accepted the invitation of long-standing programme director Prof. Dr Timm Beichelt and his team to exchange ideas and make new contacts in a relaxed atmosphere.

Author, lawyer, journalist, human rights activist - the Master's degree programme in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (IHL) brings together people from the most diverse professions and countries like no other. With flying hats, colourful sashes and enthusiastically cheering guests, the graduation ceremony for the graduates of the IHL study course was an exuberant event.

A variety of perspectives on the Oder were at the centre of an event hosted by alumna Katharina Blumberg-Stankiewicz and philosopher and Islamic scholar Dr Alina Kokoschka. Under the title "TraumaTische GegenWarten, ...Oder?", they discussed various perspectives on the Oder with the audience.

They work for the Brandenburg police force, Deutsche Telekom, a pharmaceutical company or Frankfurter Dienstleistungsholding GmbH and they all came to Viadrina regularly for a year to complete their part-time degree programme. On 28 November 2024, the first eleven graduates of the Master of Compliance and Integrity Management (MACIM) were given a ceremonial send-off.

At the invitation of German Ambassador Viktor Elbling, around 50 graduates, mainly from Warsaw, met with Viadrina President Prof. Dr Eduard Mühle in the Polish capital on 27 June 2024. After talking to the ambassador about the current situation of German-Polish relations, the guests networked in the garden of the German Embassy. "The European University Viadrina is a university that is committed to the German-Polish and European idea like no other. Since its foundation in 1991, it has not only played an important role as the centrepiece of German-Polish university cooperation, but has also made an enormous contribution to European understanding," said Ambassador Viktor Elbling in his welcome address at the start of the meeting. He emphasised the special role of Polish Viadrina alumni in German-Polish relations and expressed his pleasure that the Embassy is a meeting place for the Warsaw Viadrina community.

For the third time, Viadrina celebrated students from all three Faculties who successfully completed their studies with a summer graduation ceremony on 15 June 2024. Whether Bachelor's, Master's, first law degree or PhD - everyone who received their certificates on Graduation Day 2024 can be proud. Around 750 international guests, including almost 200 graduates, transformed the campus into a colourful, lively and very emotional place that afternoon. Around 40 graduates accepted Viadrina President Prof. Dr Eduard Mühle's invitation to a meeting at the German Consulate General in Wrocław on 18 April 2024. They graduated from the European University Viadrina between 1997 and 2023 and now live in Wrocław, Katowice, Zielona Góra, Wałbrzych, Poznań or Legnica. At the meeting, they were welcomed by Consul General Martin Kremer and introduced to Eduard Mühle, President of Viadrina. He gave an insight into the European University's latest projects. Viadrina alumnus and lawyer Robert Suligowski then had an open discussion with the Polish Deputy Foreign Minister and Viadrina lecturer, Marek Prawda, which focussed in particular on the transformation of the European Union since Russia's attack on Ukraine.
