Viadrina honours its graduates at Graduation Day 2025

Bachelor's, Master's, First Examination in Law and PhD: On 28 June, Viadrina celebrated its graduates from all three Faculties and the European New School of Digital Studies. More than 850 international guests, including around 220 graduates, then celebrated the presentation of their certificates on the campus square with live music from the German-Polish band LUNYA.

MES alumni meeting at the Schöneberg town hall in Berlin

More than 60 graduates of the Master's programme in European Studies met at Rathaus Schöneberg. The guests had accepted the invitation of long-standing programme director Prof. Dr Timm Beichelt and his team to exchange ideas and make new contacts in a relaxed atmosphere.

Author, lawyer, journalist, human rights activist - the Master's degree programme in International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (IHL) brings together people from the most diverse professions and countries like no other. With flying hats, colourful sashes and enthusiastically cheering guests, the graduation ceremony for the graduates of the IHL study course was an exuberant event.

Alumna shows different perspectives on the Oder

A variety of perspectives on the Oder were at the centre of an event hosted by alumna Katharina Blumberg-Stankiewicz and philosopher and Islamic scholar Dr Alina Kokoschka. Under the title "TraumaTische GegenWarten, ...Oder?", they discussed various perspectives on the Oder with the audience.

Alumni meeting in Warsaw

At the invitation of German Ambassador Viktor Elbling, around 50 graduates, mainly from Warsaw, met with Viadrina President Prof. Dr Eduard Mühle in the Polish capital on 27 June 2024. After talking to the ambassador about the current situation of German-Polish relations, the guests networked in the garden of the German Embassy. "The European University Viadrina is a university that is committed to the German-Polish and European idea like no other. Since its foundation in 1991, it has not only played an important role as the centrepiece of German-Polish university cooperation, but has also made an enormous contribution to European understanding," said Ambassador Viktor Elbling in his welcome address at the start of the meeting. He emphasised the special role of Polish Viadrina alumni in German-Polish relations and expressed his pleasure that the Embassy is a meeting place for the Warsaw Viadrina community.

For the third time, Viadrina celebrated students from all three Faculties who successfully completed their studies with a summer graduation ceremony on 15 June 2024. Whether Bachelor's, Master's, first law degree or PhD - everyone who received their certificates on Graduation Day 2024 can be proud. Around 750 international guests, including almost 200 graduates, transformed the campus into a colourful, lively and very emotional place that afternoon. Alumni meeting in Wroclaw

Around 40 graduates accepted Viadrina President Prof. Dr Eduard Mühle's invitation to a meeting at the German Consulate General in Wrocław on 18 April 2024. They graduated from the European University Viadrina between 1997 and 2023 and now live in Wrocław, Katowice, Zielona Góra, Wałbrzych, Poznań or Legnica. At the meeting, they were welcomed by Consul General Martin Kremer and introduced to Eduard Mühle, President of Viadrina. He gave an insight into the European University's latest projects. Viadrina alumnus and lawyer Robert Suligowski then had an open discussion with the Polish Deputy Foreign Minister and Viadrina lecturer, Marek Prawda, which focussed in particular on the transformation of the European Union since Russia's attack on Ukraine.
