A COIL module typically consists of several components:

  • Intercultural, professional and digital competences
  • Definition of what students should achieve at the end of the module

  • Students and teachers from at least two countries
  • Building mixed teams for joint projects or tasks

  • Group projects, presentations, discussions or case studies
  • Tasks must be interactive and team-orientated

  • Online platforms (e.g. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Moodle)
  • Tools for collaboration (e.g. Miro, Padlet, Google Workspace)

  • Structured schedule: Introduction, processing, feedback
  • Methodological diversity: lectures, group work, peer feedback

  • Reflection on different perspectives and cultures
  • Promoting awareness of international cooperation

  • Regular feedback from teachers and peers
  • Reflection on learning progress and group experiences
