Details on the double degree programmes for master students of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics

Application and special requirements

For the double programme, please apply to the Viadrina International Affairs Department. More detailed information on the application procedure and application deadlines can be found under application.

Prerequisites:

• At the time of departure to Cordoba you must have studied at least 2 semesters at the Viadrina.
• You must have sufficient knowledge of Spanish.

Language skills

The language of instruction is Spanish, so you must have sufficient knowledge of Spanish to participate in the programme (at least B1). To facilitate your studies, the university offers Spanish courses for exchange students.

Semester periods

Winter semester: August - December.
Summer semester: March - July.

Please bear in mind when planning your studies that the academic calendar of Argentinian universities differs considerably from that of German universities. As a student on the double degree programme, your semester at UCC begins in March. You will stay on site for one year.

Course selection / teaching format

Master's programme "Business Administration": The MBA is part-time, so teaching takes place exclusively in the evenings and at weekends in the form of block seminars. You have to take a total of 14 courses, which you can choose from business administration, finance, marketing, human resources and complementary areas (ethics, social responsibility). The main part of the coursework (seminar papers, presentations) is completed in groups. The masters thesis is completed individually.

Recognition of academic achievements

In order to obtain a degree from Viadrina, you must complete the specified modules in your degree programme. To do this, you can receive credit for the courses you have taken abroad as part of the double programme. In order to ensure recognition at the Viadrina, the choice of courses should be discussed with Torsten Glase before you leave for Argentina.

For the Argentinian degree, you must send the Viadrina degree certificate or the complete transcript of records (usually HIS portal printout) to the UCC. They will then issue you with a degree certificate.

Master's thesis

The Master's thesis is written and supervised in Spanish at UCC.

Useful tips: Insurance, accommodation, travelling, etc.

Semester off: You cannot take a semester off for the semester in which you complete your Master's thesis, as the final thesis cannot be recognised during this semester. You can apply for a semester off in the first semester, but the work completed at MMU during this semester off cannot be recognised at Viadrina.

Health insurance: Please find out in good time about the benefits and options offered by your health insurance provider for a longer stay abroad outside Europe. There are no compulsory vaccinations for Argentina, but if you would still like to find out about current recommendations for malaria prophylaxis and vaccinations, we recommend that you contact the Tropeninstitut Berlin.

Accommodation: The UCC does not have its own student residences (this is not common in Argentina). However, the Departamento de Intercambio (International Office) will be happy to help you find a room and often offers accommodation in shared flats or student residences before you arrive. It is possible to stay with a family, get a room without meals or stay in an apart-hotel (with or without meals).

Travelling: Is possible by plane directly to Córdoba.

Cost of living: Approx. 600€ - 700€.

Visa: As a rule, you need a residence permit to study in Argentina for more than 90 days. You can find out about the visa requirements on the Argentinian embassy's website.

Prerequisites:
The double programme is aimed exclusively at IBA Master's students who are enrolled in the Marketing and Management or General Track.
At the time of departure to Vaasa, you must have already studied at Viadrina for at least two semesters.
You must have at least 50 ECTS at the time of departure to Vaasa.
You must have sufficient language skills.

Language skills

In order to participate in the programme, you should have sufficient English language skills. The University of Vaasa requires appropriate proof, which must be submitted before the start of the exchange programme:

• EU Framework of Reference B2 e.g. UNICERT II or equivalent.

Finnish knowledge is welcome, but not a requirement.

Winter semester: Beginning of August - end of December.

Please bear in mind when planning your studies that the academic calendar of Finnish universities differs from that of German universities. As a student on the double degree programme, your semester at the University of Vaasa begins in August or January. You will stay on site for one year.

Course selection / type of teaching

Course selection: During your study visit, you must complete a total of at least 60 ECTS. Please look for course lists on the University of Vaasa website. You will complete all the necessary courses in the first semester. The second semester is reserved for the master's seminar (MS) and the final thesis.

Type of teaching: Be prepared for the fact that you will have to write assignments and presentations in addition to the written exams. There is also a lot of group work.

Recognition of academic achievements

The information listed there also applies to students in the double programme. You must discuss your choice of course with Torsten Glase to ensure that it is recognised at Viadrina.

In order to obtain a degree from Viadrina, you must complete the specified modules in your degree programme in full. To do this, you can have the courses from abroad that you have taken as part of the double programme recognised by arrangement.

For a degree from the University of Vaasa, you must send a transcript with your achievements (HiS-Portal extract) to the University of Vaasa after completing your studies at Viadrina. They will then issue you with a Master's certificate.

Master's thesis

You will write your masters thesis in the second semester of your stay at the University of Vaasa. The final thesis is recognised at Viadrina with 20 ECTS credits, so you do not have to write a second thesis. The masters thesis must be written in English.

Please note: Please note that you cannot take a semester off for your second semester in Finland, in which the masters thesis is written.

Useful tips: Insurance, accommodation, travelling etc.

Leave of absence: You cannot take a semester off during your year abroad at the University of Vaasa, as it is not possible to have your achievements abroad recognised if you take a leave of absence.

Insurance: If you are legally insured with a German health insurance company and have a European Health Insurance Card, this provides basic insurance cover for other European countries. If you do not yet have a European Health Insurance Card, you should apply for one from your insurance company. We also recommend that you take out supplementary insurance for the duration of your stay abroad.

If you have private insurance, find out what is covered and whether you will be granted sufficient insurance cover abroad in Finland. It is also advisable to take out supplementary insurance if necessary.

Accommodation: There are several halls of residence available, which are organised by VOAS(Student Housing Foundation). Please note that some halls of residence are a little further away from the campus. Costs €190 - €300 per month. We would also be happy to put you in touch with students who have already completed a stay abroad at the University of Vaasa. Please send us a short email.

Travelling: Is possible by plane, train and bus. There are no direct flights to Vaasa yet. Usually you fly from Berlin to Helsinki and from there you continue with a connecting flight or by train.

Cost of living: Approx. 600€ per month (food approx. 250€, transport 30€, flat 190€ - 300€).

Visa: If you are an EU citizen, a valid passport or identity card is sufficient. If you are a non-EU citizen, find out about the visa requirements on the website of the Finnish Embassy.

• English: B2 or TOEFL 85, IELTS 6.0, CAE min B.
• French: B2 or TCF 400, TEF 500, DELF B2.

Semester periods

Winter semester: Beginning of September - mid/end of December.
Summer semester: Beginning of January - end of May.

The double programme only starts in the winter semester. You will stay on site for one year.

Course selection / teaching format

Course selection: A total of 60 ECTS points must be earned during the study visit at NEOMA Business School. There are three specialisations with different tracks: "Marketing", "Finance & Accounting" and "Business and Management". You choose a track with predefined courses, which are then compulsory. Recognition must therefore be agreed in advance with Torsten Glase.

Teaching format: The courses are usually made up of around 25 students and are completed after three weeks with presentations, assignments and exams.

Internship: In addition to the university education, there is also the opportunity to complete an internship (stage). NEOMA Business School supports students in their search for an internship.

In order to obtain a degree from Viadrina, you must complete the specified modules in your degree programme. To do this, you can receive credit for the courses you have taken abroad as part of the double programme. In order to ensure recognition at the Viadrina, the choice of courses should be discussed with Torsten Glase before departure.

For the French degree, you must send a transcript with your achievements (extract from the HiS portal in English) to NEOMA Business School after completing your studies at Viadrina. They will then issue you with a degree certificate.

Master's thesis

The Master's thesis will be written and supervised at Viadrina after your return.

Semester off: You cannot take a semester off for the semester in which you complete your Master's thesis, as the final thesis cannot be recognised in this semester. You can apply for a semester off in the first semester, but the work completed at NEOMA in this semester cannot be recognised at Viadrina.

Health insurance: If you are legally insured with a German health insurance company and have a European Health Insurance Card, this provides basic insurance cover for other European countries. If you do not yet have a European Health Insurance Card, you should apply for one from your insurance company. We also recommend that you take out supplementary insurance for the duration of your stay abroad.

Accommodation: NEOMA Business School has halls of residence. However, everyone is free to look for private accommodation. As a rule, the "taxes d'habitation" (housing tax) is already included in your rent. However, make sure you pay attention to this when signing a rental contract, otherwise you will incur high additional costs.

Housing benefit: As an exchange student in France, you are entitled to housing benefit, which you can apply for at Caisses d'Allocations Familiales (CAF).

Travelling: Is possible by plane and bus via Paris.

Cost of living: Approx. 600€ - 1000€.

Visa: If you are an EU citizen, a valid passport or identity card is sufficient. If you are a non-EU citizen, find out about the visa requirements on the website of the French embassy.

During your studies at UniMC you will be enrolled in the "International Economic Relations" track. You must earn 64 ECTS from the UniMC and attend the following lectures:

In order to obtain a degree from Viadrina, you must complete the specified modules in your degree programme in full. To do this, you can have the courses you have taken abroad as part of the double programme credited to your degree by arrangement.

Recognition according to the agreement with UniMC in the double programme:

• The two courses "Development Economics" (8 ECTS) and "International Trade Law (mod. Theory + Applied)" (8 ECTS) can be recognised together for 3 courses with 6 ECTS each in FINE at Viadrina.
The course "International Business Strategy" is recognised for M&M, equivalent to 6 ECTS at Viadrina.
• The course "Electives" is recognised for an equivalent course (6 ECTS) at Viadrina.
• "Extracurricular activities" can be recognised for (6 ECTS) in the non-economics module at Viadrina.
• The masters thesis, including the course "Academic Writing", is recognised with 24 ECTS at Viadrina.

Master's thesis

• Students can complete their masters thesis at Viadrina or UniMC and choose their supervisors accordingly.
• Students must comply with the procedures and deadlines of the institution where they are completing their final thesis.
• The supervising institution grades the final thesis according to its standards, and the partner institution recognises the masters thesis according to its own grading system.
• The student must write the final thesis in English.
• The host institution issues the diploma to the visiting students if all conditions of this agreement are met. The UniMC will only issue the diploma after payment of the fees for issuing and sending the diploma.

Accommodation
There are "on-campus" and "off-campus" halls of residence at UniMC, for which students must apply within a certain period of time, more information can be found here.

Insurance
All students must be in possession of proof of health insurance valid in Italy for the entire duration of their stay in the country. This applies to both EU and non-EU citizens. You will also need the Codice Fiscale, which you must also apply for when studying in Italy. You can find more information on the Italian health system here.

As part of your application, you will be invited to an interview, which will be attended by Viadrina staff and colleagues from SGH.

• Only for students in the Master International Business Administration programme at Viadrina.

• TOEFL iBT 79,
• IELTS 6.0,
• LCCI Level 3 (Pass),
• TOEIC - 750 or
• a confirmation from the Viadrina Language Centre that you have the necessary language skills.

Polish: Knowledge is welcome, but not a prerequisite.

Semester periods

Winter semester: end of September - mid-February.
Summer semester: mid-February - end of June.

We recommend starting at SGH in the winter semester. You will stay on site for one year.
If you go to SGH in the summer semester and your stay extends into the 5th semester, fees are payable per ECTS in the 5th semester (amount varies, approx. PLN 150 per 1 ECTS).

Course selection / form of teaching

Course selection: During your study stay at SGH, you can choose between the following fields of study at SGH, depending on your specialisation at Viadrina (track):

• Track Finance and Accounting
• Track International Business
• Track Management and Marketing

You must complete courses totalling at least 60 - 63.5 ECTS at SGH. These can be recognised at Viadrina by arrangement. Most courses at SGH only have 3 - 4.5 ECTS, so two courses at SGH must be combined for recognition at Viadrina. Depending on the chosen field of study at SGH, the courses to be taken differ (see fields of study).

Teaching format: Similar to Viadrina. The courses tend to be small, with a maximum of 30 - 40 participants. For courses with a lower number of ECTS, the workload is correspondingly lower.

Recognition of academic achievements

In order to obtain a degree at Viadrina, you must complete the specified modules in your degree programme in full. To do this, you can have the courses taken abroad as part of the double programme recognised.
For a degree from SGH, you must complete the prescribed courses on site, depending on your chosen field of study. The coursework completed at Viadrina will also be recognised by SGH.

Master's thesis

From the winter semester 2021/22 onwards, the masters thesis will only be written and defended at SGH. Your masters thesis will be graded with 20 ECTS at SGH and recognised with 21 ECTS at Viadrina. The final thesis should be written in English.

The defence at SGH will be credited with 3 ECTS at Viadrina. You must also answer general study-related questions during the oral examination. You will receive a question catalogue with approx. 91 questions.

Semester off: You cannot take a semester off for the semester in which you complete your Master's thesis, as the final thesis cannot be recognised in this semester. You can apply for a semester of leave in the first semester, but the work completed at SGH during this semester of leave cannot be recognised at Viadrina.

Insurance: If you are legally insured with a German health insurance company and have a European Health Insurance Card, this provides basic insurance cover for (European) countries abroad. You are free to take out additional insurance for your stay abroad.

Accommodation: There are two halls of residence near the campus, which are organised by SGH. Double rooms are available for approx. 400 PLN per month. Accommodation costs for privately sought accommodation amount to approx. 800 - 1600 PLN per month.

Travelling: Best by train with the Berlin-Warszawa-Express (approx. 5.5 h). The cost if you book early is around €30 and you can take as much luggage with you as you like.

Cost of living: Approx. 600€ - 800€ per month.
