Viadrina takes top place in nationwide CHE ranking in 2026
The European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) has once again achieved top positions in the nationwide university ranking of the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) and the weekly newspaper Die ZEIT. The ranking, which also takes student assessments into account, once again recognises Viadrina's excellent study conditions, excellent support and outstanding international orientation.
Top rankings for support, integration of theory and practice and internationalisation in business and economics study courses
In terms of study situation, internationalisation and support, the Bachelor's degree programmes in International Business Administration, Internationale Betriebswirtschaftslehre and the dual Bachelor's degree programme Wirtschaftsprüfung top places nationwide. Students awarded top marks for the support provided by lecturers and the course programme, for digital learning and the organisation of examinations. Viadrina is also ahead of the rest of Germany in terms of support and opportunities to study abroad as well as internationalisation on site.
Viadrina is further in the top group when it comes to the integration of theory and practice in the dual study course Wirtschaftsprüfung.
Law degree programme receives top marks from students - integrated Master's from October 2026
The Law (state examination) study course is also a national leader in terms of study conditions. In the students' assessment, the individual supervision and support provided by lecturers, the course programme and the organisation of examinations in particular received top marks, which are well above the national average. The excellent individual support at the start of the degree programme was emphasised.
This focus on the needs of students, particularly in the demanding law (state examination) study course, is reflected in the introduction of a master's degree in German and European Law (LL.M.), the only one of its kind in Germany, in the winter semester 2026/27. The degree, which is integrated into the law (state examination) study course, complements the existing Bachelor of Laws degree and offers students a law degree regardless of the outcome of the state examination.
We are very pleased with the excellent results. They emphasise what we stand for at the Viadrina: excellent teaching, individual learning and study conditions, direct contact and personal encounters at eye level. We offer space for individual development and the experience of a committed academic community. After all, we want to educate people who will provide the impetus to tackle pressing social challenges. To this end, we offer an internationally oriented degree programme that is geared towards the interests and needs of our students. Our global network of university partnerships, numerous international double degrees and our multicultural, multilingual campus enable our students to establish an international private and professional network during their studies.

The CHE Ranking
The university ranking of the weekly newspaper Die ZEIT and the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) is Germany's largest and most important comparative ranking of state and private universities. The results in the areas of research, teaching and facilities are based on students' judgements. This year, the CHE University Ranking covers the subjects of Rechtswissenschaft (Law), Business Administration, Economics, Business Administration, Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering, Business Psychology, Business Law and Social Work.
My professors, tutors and all other staff are always available to me, whether after the lecture or by email. If I have a question, I always get a quick and reliable answer. Especially in courses with smaller groups, e.g. in tutorials or seminars, the relationship with the lecturers is very personal. There is a lot of interaction and discussion, which really helps me to learn. For me, internationality was one of the main reasons for choosing this degree programme and I have benefited greatly from it. The enormous range of partner universities and exchange countries is one thing. The other is the promotion of a stay abroad through very personal and competent counselling. This made it much easier for me to organise my own exchange.
Julius Trenkmann (International Business Administration, Bachelor)
What I particularly like about the Viadrina is the good supervision and the high level of practical relevance, for example through excursions to various courts and by visiting practitioners in the courses. Because these are directly linked to the topics in the class programme, this gives me the opportunity to come into contact with different professional fields outside of internships and to familiarise myself with the area of application of the theoretical material.
Student Sophie Franz (Law, State Examination)
