"Frankfurt (Oder) is waiting for students like you to help shape this place" - Prospective students visit the open day in large numbers
They came from Berlin and Brandenburg, Dresden, Braunschweig, Gdańsk, Wrocław and even the USA: more than 500 prospective students took advantage of the Open Day on 25 June 2025 to find out more about studying at the Viadrina. Their questions were answered on campus; they got to know university life in the lecture halls and they explored the campus and halls of residence.
"Frankfurt (Oder) is waiting for students like you to help shape this place - there are so many opportunities," says Janine Nuyken, Viadrina Vice-President for Transfer and Campus, welcoming numerous faces to the open day on campus. In addition to registered school classes from Berlin, Brandenburg and Poland, individual prospective students have also come with their families or friends. What can they expect at the Viadrina? "We see ourselves as an international university with 40 per cent of students from more than 100 countries, as a university in the middle of Europe, as a German-Polish university. We educate people who will help shape a future Europe," explains Janine Nuyken.

Many of the guests make use of the individual counselling services on campus in front of the Audimax: staff from Cultural and Social Studies, Law and Economics, the European New School of Digital Studies and the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice as well as the service facilities are available to answer questions about study courses, funding, scholarships, stays abroad and more.
In addition, the guests attend the German and English-language lecture programme by professors and lecturers. Pupils also gain study insights while attenting the lectures halls where topics like artificial intelligence and petfluencer - how animals and humans talk to each other - are presented. Further they get to know how a degree programme at the Viadrina can be tailored to individual needs.
Of course, there is also a free lunch in the Mensa for all visitors to the Open Day. The student-led campus tours and the bus tour through Frankfurt (Oder) to the student residences are a great way to digest the lunch menu.
