Students from 20 countries study the protection of human rights in Europe

Frankfurt (Oder),

From Monday, 7 July, almost 50 students from Nepal, Senegal, Argentina, Croatia and many other countries will be studying the European system of human rights protection at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). The two-week summer school "The European System of Human Rights Protection" offers Viadrina students as well as international students from almost 20 countries the opportunity to learn from renowned researchers and experts from the field. This is the 26th time that the programme takes place at the Viadrina, and this year there were once again far more applicants than available spots.

One of the highlights of this summer's programme is a lecture and discussion with Polish lawyer Anna Adamska-Gallant, who works as a judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), on Friday, 11 July. Traditionally, the summer school ends with a simulated session of the European Court of Human Rights on Friday 18 July, which has been elaborately prepared by the students. The programme is organised by Prof. Dr Carmen Thiele, holder of the adjunct Professorship for International Law, Eastern European Law and Comparative Law at the European University Viadrina.

Journalists are invited to report on the summer school and its participants. If you are interested, please register by email: presse@europa-uni.de.
