Senate and Faculty Councils (student representatives)
The elections will take place from 22 June to 25 June 2026, 12.00 to 14.00 in the foyer of the Gräfin-Döhnhoff building or by postal vote.
An official photo or student ID is sufficient for identification purposes.
The postal vote must be requested by 12 June 2026, 11.59 pm using the online form.
Active voters are all those who are enrolled as students at the European University Viadrina and are included in the electoral lists. These can be viewed from 11 May 2026 to 22 May 2026 (1 pm) in the Office of the President (HG 107).
The right to vote can only be exercised in one of the member groups. Multiple voting in different groups is not permitted. They can make an irrevocable declaration to the election management as to which other member group they wish to vote in.
Objections to the electoral lists can be submitted to the election management (hochschulwahlen@europa-uni.de) until 22 May 2026 (1 pm).
The principles of the electoral system as well as the casting and distribution of votes are set out in §§ 5 and 7 of the Electoral Regulations, according to which the election for the group of students is based on the principle of personalised proportional representation.
A list of all candidates will be published on the website www.europa-uni.de/wahlen in the run-up to the elections.
The election results are published on the website www.europa-uni.de/wahlen.
All students enrolled at the European University Viadrina are eligible to vote.
Composition of the committees
The Senate and the Faculty Councils each consist of:
- 7 university lecturers
- 4 students
- 4 academic staff members (whoever is to be considered first in the allocation of mandates is entitled to vote)
- 2 non-academic staff members (whoever receives the most votes is entitled to vote)
Non-voting members otherwise have all the participation rights of the respective body.
The student members are elected for a one-year term of office. The term of office begins on 1 October 2026.
Only those who have been included in an election proposal from their constituency can be elected.
Election proposals
Each nomination must contain the following information about the candidates (section 14 (5) Electoral Regulations):
- Member group
- Department
- First name, surname
- Matriculation number
In addition, it is strongly recommended to provide an e-mail address and/or telephone number so that the electoral commission can contact you in case of missing or unclear information, but this is not mandatory.

In accordance with Section 14 of the Electoral Regulations, the individual election proposal may contain no more than three times as many candidates as there are seats to be filled. The candidates must belong to the constituency and may not be included in another election proposal for the same body.
A written, irrevocable declaration of willingness from all candidates must be submitted with the nomination.
Election proposals may contain lists or individual candidates. In accordance with Section 14 (5) sentence 3 of the Electoral Regulations, the name of the list and a list spokesperson must be stated if possible. In the case of lists, a desired order can be specified, otherwise the order on the ballot paper is alphabetical.
Lists of supporters: Election proposals submitted must be signed by at least three eligible voters from this constituency, stating their affiliation to the constituency or Faculty in question; students must state their matriculation number (Section 14 (4) WahlO).
Election proposals must be submitted to the election management by 26 May 2026 12.00 noon. Only complete election proposals submitted by the deadline will be considered.
The election results will be published after confirmation by the Central Election Committee at www.europa-uni.de/wahlen.
