Antiplagiarism software - PlagAware
Plagiarism check at the Viadrina
PlagAware is the anti-plagiarism software used at the Viadrina.
The software searches freely accessible sources on the internet. This allows it to quickly check whether submitted work contains third-party content without citing it correctly.
Note: You can find more detailed information on how to use PlagAware and its most important functions in the guides linked here.

No, sources listed in the bibliography of the paper will not be reviewed.
In principle, yes. However, a search is carried out via search engines, the results of which may not be 100% identical. It can also happen that sources are removed from the network or changed.
The AI recognition recognises formulations very reliably, as is typical for AI algorithms. However, we have also seen cases in which students have imitated the style of an AI very well, resulting in a false-positive result. In general, we suggest evaluating the result of the AI detection as an initial suspicion and, if necessary, providing for an oral examination or similar. You can find more information on this here.
It should not happen that Word and PDF files are checked against each other and lead to a plagiarism result, as these are not currently included directly by Moodle in the PlagAware library.
