Exemption from undertaking a period of study abroad
In justified cases, the examination board may exempt you from studying abroad. To do so, you must submit an informal, reasoned application in writing, as an original document, to the relevant examination board.
Instead, you must:
- complete the Economics module group,

- complete a four-week international work placement – either abroad or at an internationally active company in Germany.

- To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor’s thesis, you must have completed coursework and examinations totalling at least 126 credits.
- Individual professorships may impose further requirements for the approval of a supervision arrangement. Please check the websites of the individual professorships.
- Supervision must be arranged centrally and within the specified deadline submitted in a timely manner.
Calculation of the final mark
- The final mark is calculated as the average of the modules required for graduation and the final thesis, with the average being weighted according to credits.
- Modules that have been assessed as ‘pass’ are not taken into account when calculating the final mark.
- The final mark is calculated to the first decimal place. Any further decimal places are disregarded without rounding.
