Learning and Teaching Together (German-Ukrainian University Network)
Project description

Having cooperated with Ukrainian universities in terms of student exchanges and initiatives such as the Competence Network for Interdisciplinary Ukraine Studies (KIU) for over 25 years, European University Viadrina serves as a key hub for Ukraine-related research and teaching in Germany.
Within the framework of the DAAD programme German-Ukrainian University Network (DUHN), the project “Learning and Teaching Together” aims to enhance and strengthen the already existing collaboration with Viadrina's Ukrainian partners by the following means:
Project description
Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) & Shared Classrooms
Project activities related to COIL and shared classrooms aim to expand international digital teaching formats to promote intercultural exchange, increase learning content related to Ukraine, and promote cooperation in research and its integration into regular teaching. To this end, networking and continuing education events are offered as part of the project.
International Staff Training Days
This project component comprises modules for strengthening administrative staff's skills and existing structures in the areas of university administration and international cooperation.
Double B.Sc. in International Business Administration
The establishment of a double degree programme in International Business Administration with Karazin Business School is intended to strengthen the cooperation in an interconnected economic region within the EU and Ukraine.
Planned start: Autumn 2026
Double LL.M. in Transitional Justice
The creation of a double degree programme in Transitional Justice with the Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv) aims to train specialists in dealing with human rights violations and shaping social transformation processes.
Planned start: Autumn 2027
The project adopts a holistic approach, fostering collaboration between Viadrina and its Ukrainian partners across disciplinary, faculty, and status group boundaries. It aims to create a shared space for mutual exchange in all three core areas — teaching, research, and knowledge transfer — with a focus on individual and institutional learning from and with one another at the heart of the cooperation.
Central to this initiative is a commitment to a transinstitutional learning community that addresses societal challenges in a needs-based manner and reflects on how these challenges can be integrated into academic practice.
