Erasmus+ Blended Short Term Mobilities

Short-term mobilities

In the new programme generation of the Erasmus+ programme (2021-2027), the opportunities for stays abroad have been greatly expanded once again.

If you are a student (BA / MA / PhD) at Viadrina, you have the following options:

  1. Classical Erasmus+ stay abroad i.f.e. long-term mobility with a duration of 2 - 12 months (optionally with virtual phase).
  2. Short-term mobility with a duration of 5 - 30 days (with mandatory virtual phase); e.g. participation in a summer school abroad.
  3. Participation in a BIP (with mandatory virtual phase)

The information on this page refers to stays abroad for study purposes in the form of short-term mobilities, as listed under points two and three.

Further information on short-term mobilities and the range of summer schools in 33 European countries can be found on the European Commission's European Education Area website.

What are Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP)?

BIPs are short physical learning, teaching and training programmes for students (5-30 days) combined with a compulsory virtual phase (collaborative online learning exchange) of undefined duration; the physical activity should preferably take place at a partner university abroad or be subject-specific with an institution affiliated with the university.

What is the aim of a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)?

To organise short, intensive mobility periods and activities with international partner universities using innovative learning and teaching methods, including Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). The intensive programme should have added value compared to existing courses or training, e.g. by BIPs aiming to build transnational and transdisciplinary teams, facilitate joint work on global challenges (e.g. related to UN SDGs) or enable flexible mobility opportunities for students with different backgrounds and fields of study and in all study cycles.

What are (Blended) Short Term Mobilities?

They are similar in structure to BIPs and are therefore also short physical learning, teaching and training programmes for students (5-30 days) combined with a compulsory virtual phase (cooperative online learning exchange) of undefined duration. The physical activity should preferably take place at a foreign partner university or be subject-specific with an institution affiliated with the university, but does not have to be part of a BIP.

Who can be funded

Students (BA/ MA/ PhD) of the Viadrina can be funded within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.

What is funded

Stays for study purposes at one of our partner universities, for which at least 3 ECTS credit points are awarded, are eligible for funding.

At present, only stays in an Erasmus+ programme country can be funded at the European University Viadrina.

Stays in some Erasmus+ partner countries are possible within the framework of Erasmus+ KA107/171.

Duration of the funding

For short-term blended mobilities, the funding period is a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 30 days.
The physical stay must be supplemented by a compulsory virtual component.

Please send your application to short-term@europa-uni.de by e-mail.

The application for funding in the Erasmus+ mobility programme can only be submitted to the Viadrina. It is not possible to apply directly to the EU Commission or the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Application deadline

There is no application deadline, we award funding on an ongoing basis. Whether the funding can be granted depends on the available budget and the number of applicants. If you are interested, please contact us directly, preferably with at least 3 months' notice.

As soon as you have our approval, you can submit the funding documents.

You upload your documents to our application portal and you will only receive the link after contacting Sarah Krebs at short-term@europa-uni.de. Please have the following documents ready for the subsequent successful application in the portal:

  • Certificate of enrolment
  • Grade transcript from viaCampus
  • CV
  • Possible language certificates
  • What financial support do participants receive?

For physical short-term mobilities within the framework of the Blended Mobility Programme (BIP), the Erasmus+ programme offers financial support, which is calculated on the basis of a daily and travel allowance. These may vary depending on the mobility period; once you have been selected, we will advise you immediately.

    • The daily flat rate for all (blended) short-term mobilities is as follows:

    • The travel allowance is currently still different. In the current funding period, this is only available for participants with limited opportunities and includes the following amounts:

    stückkosten 23

In the new funding period, this is available for all participants and includes the following amounts:

Blended short-term mobilities include, for example, summer schools (with a virtual component).
