Issue III of Catch-Up, the ERUA student magazine, is here

The third edition of Catch-Up is out — and this one is something special. For the first time, all eight ERUA partner universities have contributed to a joint issue. That's not just a fun fact. It's a sign that ERUA is growing into a real community. The content lives up to exactly that: the new issue covers what's happening across the alliance in depth — told from the perspective of students who live and shape ERUA every day.

This edition takes you first to Mytilene on Lesbos, where the University of the Aegean recently hosted the ERUA Summit and Winter School 2025 — five intensive days of workshops, panel discussions and exchange on pressing topics such as democracy, artificial intelligence, migration and the future of higher education, with student perspectives at the heart of it all. The issue also features contributions on how all eight partner universities celebrated ERUA Day — each in their own distinct way: from a rock concert to a wish box, from a board game to a fencing workshop.

Beyond the highlights, Issue III goes deeper: the Blue Commission presents its student-written manifesto for stronger integration of sustainability concepts in higher education — a list of 35 concrete proposals handed directly to the leadership of all ERUA universities last November. A Travelling Seminar took students from the University of Macerata to Vilnius to explore politics and democracy in the age of artificial intelligence. Researchers are jointly investigating why Europe's green policies so often fail to reach ordinary citizens. And student initiatives from Las Palmas to Sofia showcase what ERUA students are building beyond the lecture hall — including an international education project in Kenya and a student NGO that makes democracy tangible through play.

Finally, the issue presents the winners of the first ERUA Creative Expression Contest — with their poems, photos, illustrations and videos recognised on ERUA Day. That alone is worth a look. Catch-Up No. 3 is now available in digital format (PDF). Enjoy.
