Viadrina organises waste collection campaign with IMD Labor Oderland and DRK
On Friday, 5 June 2026, World Environment Day, a joint waste collection campaign will take place in Frankfurt (Oder) on the island of Ziegenwerder and in Kleistpark. Residents are invited to join the initiative of the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder), the IMD Labor Oderland and the German Red Cross (DRK) and set a joint example for environmental protection, sustainability and community involvement.
The rubbish collection campaign start at 1 pm at two locations:
- Ziegenwerder - meeting point at the wooden bridge behind the Gräfin-Dönhoff-Building of the Viadrina
- Kleistpark - meeting point: IMD Labor Oderland, Franz-Mehring-Straße 23 A
Trash bags and gloves will be provided.
ERUA
At the same time, Viadrina's partner universities in the European Reform University Alliance (ERUA) are also organising similar campaigns - including in the Canary Islands, Greece and Bulgaria. This makes the local campaign in Frankfurt (Oder) part of a Europe-wide commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable action.
The campaign supports the goals of sustainable urban development and environmental education and is linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, in particular the goals "Sustainable Cities and Communities" and "Climate Action".
