Start-up radar

The Stifterverband's start-up radar analyses and compares the efforts made by universities to strengthen their start-up culture. Various dimensions are analysed: start-up sensitisation, qualification and support and institutional anchoring. The start-up activities, i.e. the output of start-up promotion efforts, networking, monitoring and evaluation activities in this area are also analysed.

Think tank

There are many bright minds at the universities in Berlin and Brandenburg who have innovative and sustainable business models as solutions for the challenges of today and tomorrow. The university start-up centres support this entrepreneurial courage with a wide range of support and advice services.

This is why the Business Plan Competition Berlin-Brandenburg (BPW) honours the most entrepreneurial universities in Berlin and Brandenburg every year as part of the competition. The Ideenschmiede prize is awarded to the university in Berlin and Brandenburg that has produced the strongest start-ups in the competition in terms of quantity and quality.

In 2015, the European University took first place in the university ranking "Ideenschmiede" for the second time. Prof. Dr Achim Koberstein and employees of the Start-up Service, the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Research and the Center for Knowledge and Technology Transfer at Viadrina accepted the award in Berlin.

The criteria for the award are the number of submissions to the Berlin-Brandenburg Business Plan Competition (BPW 2015) and the ranking of the participants from a university. Viadrina students took part in the business plan competition with 36 business ideas, including a learning aid app and a catering concept focused on sustainability and healthy eating.
