Re-registration

step by step

The semester contribution may be different each semester, so please check the exact amount before you transfer it!

How much the semester contribution is for the respective semester, shows in viaCampus unter "My Studies > Student service > Bills and payments".

  • It is important to enter the correct reason for payment - your matriculation number is sufficient - so that the fee can be assigned to your viaCampus account. Other numbers such as your birthday in the reason for payment are not helpful.
  • A reduced contribution, such as a leave of absence due to parental leave, will only be visible after processing by the responsible Matriculation Office.
  • ViaCampus also shows any overpayments as credit balances. Credit balances are regularly credited to future semester fees.
  • The general amount and details of the semester fee can be found on our website.

When you can re-register is listed in our dates and deadlines for students.

Additional costs are charged if you miss the deadline and an additional late fee of currently €15.00 must be paid. This is also listed in viaCampus from the relevant deadline, possibly separately, under "My Studies > Student service > Bills and payments". Incomplete payments can also lead to a missed deadline!

Important for all payments by bank transfer: The amount must be fully credited to the university's bank account by the last day of a deadline. The end date of a deadline is not the last day on which you should make the payment, due to the processing times of the banks.

Important for all payments from a bank account outside Germany: There is a possibility that bank fees will be charged. It is therefore essential that you check whether you have actually been re-registered.

We will automatically re-register you as soon as:

  • the semester contribution has arrived in full in the university's bank account within the deadline.
  • and there is no re-registration block. This can be seen in viaCampus under "My Studies > Student service".

Please always check whether your re-registration was successful in viaCampus under "My Studies > Student service".

To check the payments and their allocation, please use the menu items "My Studies > Student service > Bills and payments".

Check your internal university e-mail inbox, especially during this period. If, unexpectedly, you did not get re-registered, you will be notified.

If there is no re-registration, the ex-matriculation will be initiated.

Once you have successfully re-registered you update your student ID card yourself at the validation station in the main building or Auditorium Maximum building.

You will not receive a new student ID card each semester.

Updating the student ID card is the only way to ensure that you can use it when participating in exams and to use its payment and copy function.
