Vorlesungsreihe “Who Owns the Sacred Once It Is No Longer Practised? Intangible Religious Heritage between Law (..)”

The lecture series explores the question “What happens to the sacred once ritual practice disappears?” and brings together international scholars working at the intersection of heritage law, law and religion, anthropology, and heritage studies. The event will feature contributions from researchers based in Europe, North America, Australia and Latin America, and will open with a keynote lecture by Prof. Lucas Lixinski (UNSW Sydney).

The initiative is organised within the research of Clizia Franceschini as Alexander von Humboldt Post-Doctoral Fellow at the European university Viadrina and aims to foster interdisciplinary discussion on the governance of intangible religious heritage and the afterlives of sacred sites.
