Erasmus+ KA171 for PhD students

Student_liest_angepasst ©Jan von Allwörden/DAAD The Erasmus+ KA171 programme enables broadening of the existing student and staff mobility to selected Partner Countries outside the European Union. The scholarship supports PhD students of the European University Viadrina for research stays at selected partner universities in non-EU countries.

 

Who can be supported with the scholarship?
Viadrina PhD students

Requirements & place of stay
The mobility must take place in a Partner Country in which the persons to be funded do not have their main place of residence.

Duration of the mobility
PhD students can participate in a 5 or 10-month funded mobility.

Viadrina
Applicants need to conclude a Learning Agreement and a Grant Agreement before departure.

Receiving institution
Applicants should contact their supervisor and the International Office of the receiving institution to clarify any questions regarding the stay abroad and organizational issues before departure.

During your stay abroad

As stated in the Grant Agreement, the applicant will receive up to 70% of the scholarship before and during the mobility. In order to receive the mobility grant, applicants should need to in their account in the Grant Agreement. Cash payments are not possible. The receiving institution needs to confirm your stay abroad by signing the Letter of Confirmation and the Learning Agreement.

After your return

Within the first four weeks after your return, you need to submit the following documents to Viadrina:

You also have 30 days to complete the online participant report required by the EU. The link will be sent to you automatically from the EU database. You will receive the second part of your grant after submitting the online report and as soon as all the required documents have been checked. If you do not complete the report within 30 days, the EU reserves the right to claim back the grant amount already paid to you.

During the stay abroad, a grant is paid to cover additional costs incurred. The funding amounts to 700 EUR / month and can be applied for a 5- or 10-month research stay.

In addition to it, there is a travel allowance depending on the actual distance between the place of departure and destination of the stay abroad, which is determined uniformly worldwide using a calculation tool. The following amounts are reimbursed depending on the stay and the distance:

10 km - 99 km 20 EUR
100 km - 499 km 180 EUR
500 km - 1,999 km 275 EUR
2,000 km - 2,999 km 360 EUR
3,000 km - 3,999 km 530 EUR
4,000 km - 7,999 km 820 EUR
> 8,000 km 1,500 EUR
