Prof. Dr. Oksana Mikheieva is a sociologist and historian. She is currently a UNET Fellow at the Center for East European and International Studies (ZOIS). 

She graduated from the University of Donetsk and defended her Ph.D. in history in 1999. In 2005-2008 she headed the sociological laboratory at the Department of Sociology of the Donetsk State University of Management. Since September 2014 she works as a professor of sociology at the Ukrainian Catholic University (Lviv). In 2016 she was Visiting Professor in Ukraine European Dialogue at the Institute for Human Science (IWM, Vienna), and in 2015 she was Eugene and Daymel Shklar Research Fellow at the Ukrainian Research Institute, Harvard University.

In 2020–2023 she was a DAAD Professor at the Faculty of Social and Cultural Sciences at the European University Viadrina. In the spring semesters of 2020 and 2022, she was a visiting professor at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. She is a member of the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society, the Ukrainian Sociological Association, the editorial board of the journals “Ukraina Moderna” and “East” (Skhid).

She has participated in more than twenty-five sociological research projects, in twelve of which she was the principal investigator. Her research interests include historical aspects of deviant and delinquent behavior, urban studies, paramilitary motivations, forced displacement and migration.
