Konrad Walerski is a research fellow and PhD student at the Viadrina Center of Polish and Ukrainian Studies since 2019. Since October 2023, he is the coordinator of the Mod-Block-DDR research project. From 2011 and 2014 he studied German philology and intercultural German studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). In 2018 he completed his Masters in Intercultural Communication Studies, as well as Languages, Communication and Cultures in Europe.

His main research interests are socialist modernization of Poland, the history of Polish sociology, the history of German–Polish relations, the history of ideas, the theory of civilization, and European studies.

At the VCPU, Mr. Walerski works in the framework of the BMBF project „Modernisierungsblockaden in Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft in der DDR“ and is engaged in the study of Polish sociology during state socialism and its importance for the modernization challenges in economy and society.
