5 Steps to the Viadrina:

For your application, please follow the steps below.

Important!

If you are a German passport holder (regardless if you have dual citizenship) please only apply once according to theGerman Application Rules’. Even if you have a foreign university entrance qualification (secondary school diploma e.g. Abitur or equivalent) you must apply in this way. Regarding your university entrance qualification, you must submit a certified copy and an official translation with the application mentioned above.

Step 1: Choose A Program

Please research into every program to know which one is right for you. They are:
  • Law = ReWi
  • Business Economics and Administration = WiWi
  • Cultural and Social Sciences = KuWi

Step 2:  Prepare Documents

Please prepare all of the necessary documents and forms to submit with your programs application.

Be aware!

  1. All required documents must be completed, mailed, and arrived before the application deadline! The postmark does not count!
  2. Depending on your study program, additional documents may be required with those already mentioned above!

 

Step 3:  Apply for your Program

a) what to do, if you have no German citizenship AND no German University entrance qualification?

I. Register with "Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung"

II. Apply with uni-assist

If you want to apply to study in:

  • Internationale Betriebswirtschaftslehre
    (in German)
  • International Business Administration
    (in English)
  • Recht und Wirtschaft / Wirtschaft und Recht
    (in German)

To register for “Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung” visit the following website: http://www.hochschulstart.de/index.php?id=3291. For further information, also check out: www.hochschulstart.de. If you cannot understand German, please contact International Office for help in applying.


Please proceed as follows:

1. Register with the applicants' portal at hochschulstart.de

If you register successfully then you will receive by email an applicant ID (BID) and an applicant authorization number (BAN). Remember these two numbers, they are important further on in the application process.

2. Apply now
with uni-assist (see II. right column).


For all other study programs:

  • It is not necessary to register with 'Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung'!
  • You can directly apply through uni-assist (see II. right column).

Applicants with an international university entrance qualification (secondary school diploma, e.g. Abitur or equivalent), who do not hold German citizenship, must only apply with uni-assist. Please do not send any application documents to Europa University Viadrina!

Uni-assist is a cooperation consisting of German universities whom processes the applications of international students at Viadrina.

Application using uni-assist must be completed ONLINE exclusively!

The online application form is to be found there. Print and sign it and send it together with all other documents with a LETTER to uni-assist.


Deadlines for Applications:

  • For winter semester:    15. July
  • For summer semester: 15. January

Applications for the summer semester are only available for Social and Cultural Science bachelor programs.

Important!
All required documents must reach uni-assist before the end of the deadline! The postmark does not count!

It is NOT SUFFICIENT to send the application documents by e-mail! You have to send all documents as HARDCOPIES (paper based) to uni-assist!

b) what to do, if you have no German citizenship BUT a German University entrance qualification?
If you apply for a program with restricted number of places (numerus clausus), please, follow the rules set for Germans. If you apply for a program without a restricted number of places (no numerus clausus), then you can apply directly.

Deadlines for Applications:

  • For winter semester:    15. July
  • For summer semester: 15. January

Applications for the summer semester are only available for Social and Cultural Science bachelor programs.

What happens after I have submitted my application in paper and online forms?

Once all of your required documents and your application have been submitted online and sent in paper form...

Next, your documents will be processed in our office according to qualitative criteria in which after you will get informed whether we can offer you a place or not.

Be aware, we can only process your application after all forms have been received online and in paper form (at our office) before the deadline.

Step 4:  Get enrolled

  • You can enroll after you have received your admission letter (via e-mail). For your enrollment, please bring all required documents mentioned above in relation to you circumstances.

  • If you are going to study in a program without a restricted number of places (numerus clausus), you will find the necessary documents for your enrollment on the du.deine uni.

Important information to applicants for the German and Polish Law program:

The Viadrina Faculty of Law and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (AMU) are offering a new common law master program “Magister des Rechts / magister prawa”. You have the opportunity either to enroll additionally into this study program (recommended) or to enroll solely in the Bachelor of German and Polish Law program. Please do not forget to register at AMU as well.

Step 5:  Comply with the Formalities

You must have valid health insurance to enroll at a German university!

Short information:

  • Applicants from within the European Union:
    You do not need a German health insurance policy. Your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is valid for study in Germany. If you do not already have this card, you will need to order the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from your insurance company in your home country well in advance.

  • Applicants from beyond the European Union:
    For you, a German health insurance policy is obligatory. After you arrival in Frankfurt (Oder), you will have to set up such a policy with a German health insurance company.
