5 Steps to the Viadrina

The European University Viadrina has implemented a new portal "du.deine uni.". It provides many important information concerning your application already. Please, be aware that the implementation of the portal "du.deine uni." is still in progress!

You can browse the portal "du.deine uni." for information concernig application.

However, for your application, please, follow the steps which are described here!


Important!

If you are a German passport holder (regardless whether this is your only citizenship or you have other citizenships apart from this) please apply according to the rules for Germans only, even if you possess a foreign university entrance qualification (school leaving ceritificate, e.g. Abitur or equivalent). Nevertheless, you have to submit a certified copy and a official translation of your university entrance qualification (school leaving certificate, e.g. Abitur or equivalent), additionally to the papers required.

Step 2:  Prepare Documents

Please prepare all necessary documents and forms for your application.

Be aware!

  • All required documents have to be submitted complete in paper form until the end of the deadline! The postmark does not count!
  • Depending on the study program documents may be required additionally to those mentioned here!

 

Step 3:  Apply for your Program

a)   What to do, if you have no German citizenship
       AND no German university entrance qualification?

I. Register
    with Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung

II. Apply
      with uni-assist

If you want to apply for studies in

  • Internationale Betriebswirtschaftslehre
    (in German)
  • International Business Administration
    (in English)
  • Recht und Wirtschaft / Wirtschaft und Recht
    (in German)

you have to register at Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung. Detailed information may be found at www.hochschulstart.de, especially at http://www.hochschulstart.de/index.php?id=3291


Please proceed as follows:

1. Register with
    the applicants' portal at hochschulstart.de

When registered successfully you'll get an applicant's ID (BID) and an applicant's authorization number (BAN). These two numbers are of great importance for the further application procedure.

2. Apply now
    with uni-assist (see II, right column).


For all other study programs:

  • it is not necessary to register with
    Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung!
  • You can directly apply over uni-assist
    (see II, right column).

Applicants with an international university entrance qualification (school leaving certificate, e.g. Abitur or equivalent), who do not hold the German citizenship, may apply with uni-assist, only. Please do not send any application documents to Viadrina!

Uni-assist is a cooperation of German universities and processes the applications of international students at Viadrina.

Application with uni-assist
may be done ONLINE exclusively!

The application procedure is described step by step at http://www.uni-assist.de/online-application.html. Please follow the advices given there. The online application form is to be found at # 5A. Please, be aware of # 8!


Deadlines for Application:

  • for winter semester:    15. July
  • for summer semester: 15. January

Applications for summer semester are possible only for the bachelor program in Social and Cultural Sciences.

Important!   All needed documents have to reach uni-assist until the end of the deadline! The postmark does not count!
I
t is NOT SUFFICIENT to send the application documents by e-mail! You have to send all documents as HARDCOPIES (paper based) to uni-assist!

b)   What to do, if you have no German citizenship
       BUT a German university entrance qualification?

If you apply for a program with restricted
number of places
(numerus clausus),
please, follow the rules for Germans.

If you apply for a program without restricted number of places (no numerus clausus),
you can enrol directly.

Deadlines for Application:

  • for winter semester:    15. July
  • for summer semester: 15. January

Applications for summer semester are possible only for the bachelor program in Social and Cultural sciences

Step 4:  Get enrolled

  • You can enroll after you have received your admission letter (via e-mail). For your enrollment please bring all documents mentioned therein.

  • If you are going to study in a program without restricted number of places (numerus clausus), you will find the necessary documents for your enrollment on the du.deine uni.

Important information to applicants the for German and Polish Law program:

The Viadrina Faculty of Law and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (AMU) are offering a new common law master programm “Magister des Rechts / magister prawa”. So you have the opportunity either to enroll additionally into this study program  (recommended) or to enroll into the Bachelor of German and Polish Law program solely. Please do not forget to register at AMU as well.

Step 5:  Comply with the Formalities

You must have valid health insurance, to enroll at a German university!

Short information:

  • Applicants from within the European Union:
    You do not need a German health insurance policy. Your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is valid and sufficient. You have to order the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) from your insurance company in your home country well in advance.
  • Applicants form beyond the European Union:
    For you a German health insurance policy is obligatory. After you arrival in Frankfurt (Oder) you have to conclude such a policy with a German health insurance company.
