Accessibility at European University Viadrina
Accessibility of university buildings
All educational buildings and certain student dorms are accessible by wheelchair. The entrances of the auditorium maximum (AM) and the Gräfin Dönhoff building (GD) are equipped with electric door openers, in the other buildings assistance by the university staff or an accompanying person is required (if needed, please ring the doorbell to call the university staff). There are barrier-free sanitary facilities in every university building.
The Association for Student Affairs (Studentenwerk) offers barrier-free one bedroom flats in their student dorms.
You can also find barrier free car parks on the campus in between the AM and GD building and next to the seminar building in August-Bebel-Straße (AB).
Workplaces and further utilities
At European University Viadrina there are two workplaces for blind and partially sighted people in the university library (top floor) and in the building in the AB building (room AB 016) respectively. They are equipped with an extra-large monitor, a computer with voice output, a video magnifier as well as a scanner and a printer.
In exams, students are further allowed to use a specifically set-up laptop which will be provided by the [LINK]counselling team for students with chronic illnesses, physical and psychological disabilities.
All lecture rooms and larger seminar rooms at the Viadrina are quipped with microphones. Infrared receivers can be borrowed from the university staff.
Accessibility of lectures, seminars and teaching materials
Lecturers are advised either to upload their teaching materials to the e-learning platform “moodle”, send them to the students by email or provide them as a reading package in the copy shop “Kopierfritze” on the campus.
With permission of the lecturer lectures and seminars can be recorded on a dictation machine.
In accordance with the lecturer the counselling team and the department for technical support (IKMZ) can arrange a video broadcast of lectures and seminars. Unfortunately, video and audio broadcasts are only possible in the lecture rooms HS1 and HS6 in the GD building or in the audimax room (AM).
