Europa-Universität Viadrina

The Europa-Universität Viadrina is located literally at the heart of Europe, directly at the Polish border, one hour away from Berlin. Only 22 years have passed since its establishment, and European University Viadrina has already achieved a remarkable reputation.

The name "Viadrina" means "located at the river Oder". The word river has a very special meaning for Viadrina. Firstly, this is due to the river on the banks of which the university lies. Just like neighboring Poland, the river is in our immediate area. This, in turn, has helped developed a close German-Polish connection; because of this, Viadrina is transforming itself into a German-Polish, European university.

Since its reestablishment in the year 1991, Viadrina has strictly adhered to its concept of bringing young people together from every corner of the world. This concept has proven to be successful: Viadrina has grown to become a lively, highly regarded member in the community of German and European universities.

The Viadrina has three faculties: Law, Social and Cultural Sciences and Business Administration and Economics. The writing center is situated at the border of all three faculties. We are very happy to welcome you here. More information.

Why do we need a writing center?

Nearly everyone who writes likes - and needs - to talk about his or her writing, preferably to someone who will really listen, who knows how to listen, and knows how to talk about writing too. Maybe in a perfect world, all writers would have their own ready auditor - a teacher, a classmate, a roommate, an editor - who would not only listen but draw them out, ask them questions they would not think to ask themselves.
