About the European Writing Centers Association

The European Writing Centers Association (EWCA) was founded in 1998, with the objective to develop an infrastructure of European Writing Center Work and to assemble its institutions under one umbrella. Since that time the ideas and projects of more than 600 members are circulating beyond national borders in Europe. Different workshops, courses and meetings in various countries have been organized and, in addition, the EWCA has held a conference every two years. Our 2014 conference will unite up to 300 researchers, teachers, peer tutors and scholars.

The EWCA is a member of the International Writing Centers Association (IWCA). The influence of the European Sister on the former NWCA (National Writing Centers Association) became visible when the NWCA changed its name to the IWCA embracing that writing center research and pedagogy in the meantime became not only a transatlantic, but a global mission.
