Winter semester 2022/2023

The winter semester 2022/23 will take place in presence on campus.

In accordance with the Viadrina house rules (in German), it is recommended to wear a medical mask in all Viadrina buildings if a minimum distance of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained. This also applies to courses, examinations, special events and the use of the library's reading room.

Some courses will take place in an online or hybrid format. You can find information on the format and schedule of all courses in the respective Moodle course.

If you have specific questions about the courses offered in your degree programme, please contact the relevant degree programme coordinator at your faculty. For an overview of the contact persons, see: Cultural and Social Sciences, Business Administration and Economics, Law (only in German), European New School of Digital Studies.

Prospective students can contact the Central Student Advisory Service with general questions about starting their studies.

Vaccination against the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2

Vaccination is the best way to contain the pandemic.

You can currently get a vaccination appointment at the Vaccination Centre in Frankfurt (Oder). The vaccination centre is located on the first floor of the Oderturm Passage opposite the Viadrina main building, Logenstraße 8. It is open Tuesdays to Fridays from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. You can book a vaccination appointment here. Please note that your second vaccination must be at least 3 months old for a booster vaccination.

You can also receive a Corona vaccination from doctors in private practice. In Frankfurt (Oder), for example, the Dr. Huth's medical practice offers vaccinations with different vaccines also for people who are not already patients of the practice. To make an appointment, please contact the medical practices directly.

Berlin's vaccination centres also offer first, second and booster vaccinations.

You can find more information on vaccinations against the corona virus here:

For students who were enrolled in the summer semester 2020, winter semester 2020/21, summer semester 2021 or winter semester 2021/22, the individual standard period of study will be extended by one semester for each of these semesters in which they were enrolled. The extension also applies to students who exceeded the standard period of study with the 2020 summer semester, the 2020/21 winter semester, the 2021 summer semester or the 2021/22 winter semester.

BAföG recipients whose maximum period of support (regular period of study) ended in the summer semester 2020, the winter semester 2020/21, the summer semester 2021 or the winter semester 2021/22 can receive educational support for a correspondingly longer period. Those who have not yet submitted an application should do so immediately.

Unless otherwise instructed by the responsible public health department, the following regulations apply to the isolation of people infected with Corona and the quarantine of contact persons:

    • The duration of isolation in case of infection is at least 5 days.
    • There is no longer a quarantine obligation for contact persons.

An overview of the current regulations on isolation can be found here (in German).

Suspicion and infection case:
If you are suspected of being infected with Corona (positive rapid test) or if you test positive for Corona, please follow the above regulations for domestic isolation and report this immediately to praevention@europa-uni.de. This email box is read regularly, even at weekends.

Please answer the following questions when reporting:

  1. When did the positive test result become available? If it was a rapid test, when will it be validated by a PCR test?
  2. How long have you had symptoms?

If you have symptoms, please have them clarified immediately at a certified testing centre or by your general practitioner.

In the case of primary contact, it is not necessary to inform the prevention team.

Hygiene measures at the Viadrina

To reduce the risk of infection for employees, students and guests in Viadrina buildings, the following hygiene measures apply:

  • Access to all Viadrina buildings is prohibited for persons infected or suspected of being infected with Covid-19.
  • In the buildings of the Viadrina, it is recommended to wear a medical mask (surgical mask or FFP2 mask) if a minimum distance of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained and no suitable protective measure (structural separation, separation by glass, plexiglass or similar) are available. This also applies to courses, examinations as well as public events and the use of the library.

  • Regular washing of hands with soap for at least 20 seconds is one of the most important hygiene measures.

  • The ventilation systems in the buildings of the Viadrina are operated in accordance with current infection protection standards.

Further information can be found in the hygiene concept of the European University Viadrina (in German).
