Conflict Management: Research Leaders

Primary Target Groups: VIP-Fellows; Postdocs
Date: Monday, November 4, and Tuesday, November 5, 2019 | 9 am - 5 pm (sharp) | Room LH 001
Course Teacher: Julia Dorandt

Course Description:

Conflicts are common occurrences in work life, where people with different mindsets take on different, hierarchically defined roles. They can pose risks, but, if handled constructively, they can also improve atmospherics, trust, and cooperation.

This is especially complex in research and higher education, where projects bring together a variety of multicultural actors in often rather loosely defined structures. For research leaders, conflict management is thus an important tool for conducting projects successfully. At the same time, it is a qualification highly sought after in (future) employees.

In this workshop, you will learn and train methods to recognize, address, and solve different types of conflicts, emphasizing situations typically encountered by research leaders.
