Amelie Kutter war Veranstalterin des Mini-Symposiums Struggles over sovereignty in asymmetrical settings: a mini symposium on peripherisation in the European Union, bestehend aus drei Panels. Im ersten, Rescaling socio-spatial hierarchies under regimes of crisis, präsentierte sie ihre eigene Arbeit “Governing catch-up, policing space: towards a discursive political economy of peripherisation within the European Union”. Am zweiten Panel des Mini-Symposiums, Peripheralities and peripheral sovereignties in foreign policies of the European Union, nimmt Elsa Tulmets mit dem Vortrag “Peripheriality in the European Neighbourhood Policy: a view on official and academic discourses.” teil. Im dritten Panel, Governing peripherality through policies of cohesion, fungierten Elsa Tulmets als Vorsitzende und Amelie Kutter als Diskussantin. Am Mini-Symposium nahm ebenfalls die postkoloniale Theoretikerin und IFES-Partnerin Manuela Boatca teil (Universität Freiburg).

Christiane Barnickel stellte im Panel Party politics, ideologies, and projections on Europe das Paper "Discourse coalitions in German legitimation policy" vor und Susann Worschech nahm am Panel Democracy and its Challenges: Populism, Partisanship, Civil Society, Regionalism mit zwei Beiträge teil: "Populism as a Political Substitute: Populist Politics in Poland and Ukraine and the Imitation of Democracy" und "Transnational Europeanization? Conceptions of Europe and Network structures of Nationalistic Movements in and around Ukraine". Susann Worschech stellte außerdem ihre Arbeit "Searching for Ukraine's New Narratives: The Development of Ukrainian Arts & Culture and Germany's Foreign Cultural Policy since Euromaidan" im Panel Sovereignties: Cultural Challenges to National Models vor.

Das IFES nahm auch aktiv am Mini-Symposium Reshaping Europe: Experiments, Agency, Cultural Practice teil, das aus fünf Panels bestand und vom kürzlich gegründeten CES Research Network European Culture unter dem Vorsitz unseres zukünftigen Gastforschers Randall Halle (Pittsburgh University) veranstaltet wurde. In diesem Rahmen leitete Timm Beichelt das Paper "A culturalist perspective on populism in Europe" im Panel Borders of Belonging, Techniques of Exclusion vorstellen und das Panel Migration and Mobilities, in dem, neben anderen, Estela Schindel das Paper "Europe and the gaze of the refugee. Three approaches to migration in theory, research, and film“ vorstellte.

Pawel Lewicki präsentierte das Paper "Moving subjects, disappearing subjects: HIV positive, marginalized migrants from Poland in Berlin" im Panel Social Disappearance in Europe. Exploring the uses of a trans-nationalized category beyond citizenship and sovereignty, das von Estela Schindel mitkonzipiert und geleitet wurde, mit der Teilnahme von IFES-Partnern von den Universitäten des Baskenlandes (Spanien) und Lancaster (UK).
