Objective
The Socrates/Erasmus Program supports multinational cooperation and exchange of knowledge. This program fosters the professional and personal growth of lecturers. At the same time, the mobility program offers lecturers a way of becoming familiar with another country's instructional and research environments.
Additionally an aim of the Erasmus Mobility Program is to offer students with little chance of studying abroad exposure to international lecturers' research expertise from their home universities.
Benefits
- Allowance for covering additional costs associated with a teaching assignment abroad
- Depending on the available budget, the usual compensation is 800 Euro/week with a maximum of 2000 Euro per assignment. In certain instances, the maximum compensation limit may be exceeded by guest lecturers with an assignment lasting more than four weeks
- Arrangements are available for lecturers with physical disabilities
Conditions of Participation
- Employee of the Viadrina. Each year, the Viadrina applies for funds from the Socrates/Erasmus Mobility Program. These funds are available to all interested lecturers at Viadrina.
- Guest Lecturer position at a Socrates/Erasmus partner institution in an EU-Member State, Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Cyprus or one of the newly approved EU-Member States in Central or Eastern Europe.
- Proposed courses need to be integrated into the instructional goals and aims of the host university/host faculty.
- Coordination of the proposed course with the host institution prior to departure.
- The minimum length of stay abroad is five days or eight hours of instruction.
