Arrival
Your Journey to Frankfurt (Oder)
Please announce your arrival to the Department of International Affairs (Bernd Schünow) at least one week before you arrival at Frankfurt (Oder).
You should also give this information to the Interstudis. This organisation will provide a tutor for you, who will guide and support you during your first days.
Attention! We recommend to arrive at Frankfurt (Oder) on a working day because nobody will be available at the university or residence halls on weekends. If you are arriving on a weekend please inform the Interstudis so they can pick up your room-key.
You should arrive via Berlin, because it is the next biggest traffic junction where also international flights are landing. There are different possibilities to arrive at Frankfurt (Oder):
- Berlin has two airports: Tegel and Schönefeld. Most international flights arrive in Berlin-Tegel.
- After the arrival in Berlin-Tegel you can take a taxi (about 12 Euro) or the bus X9 to reach the station Zoologischer Garten. Tickets are available at the ticket-booth or directly from the driver (ca. 2,80 €).
- If you should arrive in Berlin-Schönefeld you can take the subway (S-Bahn) or the train (Regionalexpress, RE, also called Airport-Express) to the station Ostbahnhof. From both stations trains are runing to Frankfurt (Oder).
- Timetables are availabe at the websites of the Deutsche Bahn. Usually the Regionalexpress (RE1) leaves every 30 minutes. Depending on the time the final destination of the train is either Frankfurt (Oder) or Eisenhüttenstadt or Cottbus
- If you are coming via Poland you can reach the town directly by train.
